Welcome to D Bar J Acres!
We love our animals dearly and hope you will too.
We are located in Loyal, Wisconsin in the central part of the state.
We have a 7 acre farm and would love to have you visit and meet all the animals.
Our main goal here at D Bar J Acres is to produce quality AGS/ADGA registered Nigerian Dwarf goats. Nigerians are the smallest of the dairy breeds and come in just about any color imaginable with brown or blue eyes and some are naturally polled (hornless, the rest are disbudded at birth). We are concentrating on lines known for producing milk with great udder texture and quality, as well as correct conformation. Nigerians make a superb hobby farm dairy goat for the small family. Their milk has excellent taste and good milker can average 2 quarts a day at peak. They have a very curious and friendly disposition and are very fun little goats!
I'm undecided about joining the ranks of breeders in the showring yet, as I didn't work this hard for a clean disease free herd to pick some unwanted disease up at a show. We do have our first ADGA Linear Appraisal scheduled for July 2009. We are hoping for the best and will post our scores when obtained.
You can read more about goat care and our herd's health (including testing) and general information on the "Goat Care" page.
We no longer raise donkeys and we only have our two Mammoth Jackstock riding geldings for our own personal trail riding use and their daily donkey antics to amuse us. You can meet "the Boys" on the Pictures page. We can possibly help you find your dream donkey as we do have a number of contacts yet.
D Bar J Acres also has a few feathered friends that free-range in our pastures. Aussie Spots are a bantam duck breed, weighing under 32 oz. They are good mothers, friendly and very hardy little ducks. We will have Australian Spotted ducklings available starting in 2010. We also have Bantam Buff Brahmas, which are a feather legged bantam chicken breed (the largest of the bantams) that are hardy, naturally broody and friendly chickens. There is also a few Black Star and Americana hens as well. Our poultry all brood naturally, so we will only have chicks/ducklings available when ever one decides to be a doting mother!
